Ju-bi-la-dos, pronounced [hoo-be-lah’-dos], the common term used in Spanish-speaking countries for retirees, literally means, “the jubilant ones,” or, “the ones feeling or expressing great joy.” noun; retirees, senior citizens, elders (United States), pensioners (British); masculine (jubilado); or feminine (jubilada). Origin: <Latin jubilare, or iubilare, 1. to sing or shout for joy; 2. To celebrate a joyful occasion; rejoice; exult.
